Course Outline

Session 1: Foundations and Prompt Engineering

Delivery (45 min):

  • Claude vs ChatGPT vs Copilot for investment, finance and analyst work
  • RACEF prompt framework (Role, Action, Context, Exemplars, Format) applied to investment analysis, forecasting and model commentary
  • Where to trust the model and where to verify - data hygiene basics

Lab/demo (20 min):

  • Each delegate rewrites one of their own typical prompts using RACEF and compares outputs

Session 2: Financial Modelling, Long Documents and Claude Code

Delivery (45 min):

  • Forward forecast from sanitised management accounts; Claude explains the assumptions
  • Waterfall extraction from a sanitised legal document (the ‘legal Bible’ workflow)
  • Introducing Claude Code for advanced Excel work, scripted analysis and repeatable model tasks

Lab/demo (20 min):

  • Hands-on: legal document → waterfall template, followed by a Claude Code demo on a sample financial model

Session 3: Skills, Artifacts and Claude Design

Delivery (45 min):

  • Skills: building reusable workflows (forecast builder, IM summariser, waterfall extractor)
  • Artifacts and projects: shared, editable, persistent outputs across the team
  • Introducing Claude Design for producing charts, slide-ready visuals and branded documents

Lab/demo (20 min):

  • Each delegate builds one reusable skill and produces one Claude Design artifact tied to a recurring task 

Session 4: Context Windows, Claude Cowork and Implementation Plan

Delivery (45 min):

  • What ‘context’ is and how its limits show up in long IMs, models and multi-day analyses
  • Chunking, summarisation and project-level context patterns
  • Introducing Claude Cowork for agentic, multi-step tasks that keep momentum across a workflow

Lab/demo (20 min):

  • Claude Cowork demo running an end-to-end task, followed by each delegate’s personal implementation plan (this week / this month / this quarter)

Requirements

  • Participants should be involved in investment, finance, corporate finance, private equity, M&A, FP&A, valuation, research, or analyst workflows.
  • Basic working knowledge of financial models, management accounts, forecasts, investment memos, or transaction-related documents is expected.
  • Comfort with Excel and finance-oriented document review will be useful.
  • No programming background is required, although familiarity with structured Excel models will help during the Claude Code demo.
  • Prior exposure to Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot, or similar AI tools is useful but not mandatory.
